SUMMER WORKOUTS THAT ACTUALLY LAST

by | Jun 21, 2025 | Workouts | 0 comments

Summer is the season of cookouts, vacations, and that annual internal battle: “Do I keep working out or just restart in September?” At RE|DEFINE, we get it. But if you’re tired of the all-or-nothing cycle, there’s a better way — one that works in the real world and actually lasts.

1. Consistency beats intensity.

You don’t need hour-long workouts or “beast mode” every day. You need a rhythm that fits your life — even if that’s 30 minutes, twice a week. That’s where the magic happens.

2. The “right” time is now.

Waiting for the perfect schedule, mood, or weather is like waiting for a unicorn. Real change starts with showing up — imperfectly, inconsistently, sweaty and half-awake — and doing the next right thing.

3. Life-proof fitness is the goal.

At RE|DEFINE, our clients are busy adults with jobs, kids, and very real stress. We train for life: movement that supports your day-to-day, strength that builds resilience, and a schedule that doesn’t fall apart every time the calendar gets full.

4. The summer slump is a myth.

June, July, and August aren’t “off-season” for your health. They’re a chance to move the needle — slowly and steadily — so that when September rolls around, you’re not starting from scratch.

My favorite summer workout? Complexes.

They’re simple, efficient, and get the job done with minimal equipment—usually just one or two tools. Think 4–5 movements strung together, repeated 5 times. Add a warm-up at the start and a finisher at the end, and you’ve got yourself a full workout.

No fluff. No wasted time. Just effective, real-life movement.

Our bodies need the basics. It’s easy to overcomplicate things—especially in fitness. Complexes are a great reminder that simple works.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to start — and keep showing up.

A Trainer’s Secret

Even as a trainer, I have days I’d rather do anything else than work out. Yes, really. The lead-up to the workout is often the hardest part. It’s not a lack of knowledge. It’s not discipline. It’s just life.

But here’s the truth….
